Given the tendency in the late 2010s toward bezelless displays, instead of trimming the display with a notch or hole for housing a front camera, it opts to use two screens (on both sides of the phone). Selfies and video calls are made with the main camera and the rear display as viewfinder.

The Nubia X is a combination of phones like the Meizu Pro 7 as well as the Yotaphone 2 / Yotaphone 3. The high-end device comes with two screens on the front and rear. There are also two fingerprint scanners placed on the left and right edges of the Series 7000 aluminum frame. On the front of the Nubia X is a large 6.26-inch IPS screen and on the rear is an Always-On OLED display with 5.1-inch providing you with information such as weather, time, notifications, and customizable animations. The battery at 3,800mAh supports Quick Charge 3.0 (18W). The Android phone supports dual 4G LTE, including band 20 with 800MHz.

The bezel-less main display comes with a screen resolution of 1080×2280 pixels and an IPS LCD panel with a very small chin and no notch. The Nubia X has nearly 94% screen-to-body ratio due to not being equipped with a front camera. The Android phablet is also perfect for high-end gaming. Thanks to its multi-layer graphene cooling technology it will not overheat during extensive gaming sessions.

In the camera department, the dual screen phone does not sport a front camera for selfies. Thanks to the second display you are able to use the Always-On screen as a viewfinder and take selfies with the dual camera setup. There is a 16MP main sensor (f/1.8) and a secondary 24MP sensor (f/1.7) supporting NeoVision 8.0, PDAF, dual LED and a smart LED soft light. AI features include intelligent scene recognition, portrait mode and slow-motion video recording at 240fps.

Another great feature is the dual fingerprint sensor which allows you to easily unlock the smartphone while using the front or back screen. Connectivity options include dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and full 4G VoLTE support. The Nubia X is running Nubia UI, based on Android.

Rear Touch Pad
During gameplay, specific areas of the rear screen transform into a dedicated gamepad, so you can focus more on defeating your adversary than fumbling with your thumbs.

Successor:
Nubia Z20 (similar design, newer processor) //
The Z20 has an aluminum and glass construction. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ CPU and the Adreno 640 GPU. An AMOLED panel is used for both displays, with a 6.42-inch 1080p screen on the front and a smaller 5.1-inch 720p screen on the back. Both are protected by Gorilla Glass 5, and supports HDR10. The Z20 has a 4000mAh battery and can fast charge at up to 27W over USB-C. A triple camera setup is used, with a 48 MP main lens, a 16 MP ultrawide lens, and an 8 MP telephoto lens. The main lens has PDAF and OIS, with a red accent ring. It is capable of recording 1080p or 4K video at either 30 or 60 fps, and can also shoot 8K at 15 fps and 720p ultra slow-motion at 1920fps.

About YotaPhone (featured comparison) //
In 2013, Russian company Yota Devices introduced YotaPhone, a device with a traditional LCD screen on one side and an always-on electronic paper display on the other. The always-on black-and-white display is ideal for avid readers, those craving longer battery life, and anyone just looking for a smartphone that’s a little unusual.

The YotaPhone 2 sports larger, higher-resolution screens than its predecessor: A bright and colorful 5-inch 1080p AMOLED screen excels at displaying movies and games, while an always-on 960x540 touchscreen eink on the opposite side is perfect for displaying text of all sorts, including books, social media and notifications, while using a small fraction of the power of the color screen.
